Dr. Raja is a highly experienced ophthalmic surgeon who has done extensive training in Ophthalmology across India, United Kingdom and Australia. To date, Dr. Raja has performed more than 10,000 eye surgeries. He has a special interest in complex cataract surgery, glaucoma and medical & surgical retina.

After completing his primary medical degree (MBBS) in India, Dr. Raja embarked on the 3-year Master of Surgery-Ophthalmology program at the world’s largest eye care system – the Aravind Eye Hospital and Postgraduate Institute of Ophthalmology from 2001-2004. He moved to the UK to pursue further specialist registrar training in Ophthalmology at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital and The Oxford Eye Hospital from 2004-2012, with fellowships in glaucoma and vitreo-retinal surgery.

Dr. Raja did his advanced sub-speciality training in vitreo-retinal surgery at Oxford Eye Hospital under Dr. CK Patel, Dr. Paul Rosen and Professor. Robert Maclaren. He then moved to Perth, Australia in 2013 to complete his second fellowship in medical and surgical retina with Professor. Ian Constable at SCGH and at the Lions Eye Institute, Perth.

Dr. Raja actively participates in teaching, training and research. He has presented his research at numerous international meetings. Dr. Raja also visits the Kimberley region of Western Australia to provide specialist ophthalmology services under the Lions Outback Vision programme. He is also Visiting Faculty at the Sri Ramachandra University, India. He is a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London), the American Academy of Ophthalmology, The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists & The American Society of Retinal Surgeons.
